Biography
| Born in Sherman Oaks, California, Jennifer Aniston spent a year of her childhood living in Greece with her family after which they relocated to New York City. Her parents, John Aniston and Nancy Dow divorced when she was nine years old and Jennifer was raised by her mother. Her father played Victor Kiriakis in the daytime soap "Days of Our Lives" (1965) and Jennifer got her first taste of acting at age 11 when she joined the 'Rudolf Steiner' School's drama club. She began her professional training as a drama student at New York's High School of the Performing Arts. In 1987 and after graduation she appeared in such Off-Broadway productions as "For Dear Life" and "Dancing on Checker's Grave". In 1989 she landed her first television role as a series regular on "Molloy" (1990) and later appeared in "The Edge" (1992), "Ferris Bueller" (1990) and also had a recurring part in "Herman's Head" (1991). After not having any major successes she got a part in a pilot called "Friends Like These" in 1994. She was asked to audition for the role of Monica but refused and finally auditioned for the role of Rachel Green the suburban princess who became a coffee peddler. With the later success of the "Friends" series Jennifer became famous and sought after and she subsequently married Brad Pitt and they purchased a 14,000 square foot house in Beverly Hills, California. The late Telly Savalas was her godfather and she was listed in "People Weekly's - Most Intriguing People" list and later as as one of "People Magazine's Most Beautiful People" in the World. |
